Refinishing floors

So we decided to try and do it ourselves after not feeling confident that the contractor we were talking to would do what we wanted, and the place that would do what we wanted we expensive enough that we couldn’t do much else. We don’t know when we’ll start yet but it should be interesting.

Nicole the gardener

On Thursday Nicole went nuts on one of the flower beds out front. She ripped everything out, put in good soil, and put in some native plants. It looks better than it ever did! Now it’s not something you have to avert your eyes from. YAY!

More weed wacking

I did a “good enough for now” job on the front yard. About 30 minutes of weed wacking and 30 minutes of clean up. However I think something got lodged in my sinuses since they are all in a bad state right now despite allergy meds.

Dar’s room is done

With the painting that is. Nicole and and I finished the second coat last night. This morning I cleared out all the stuff on the floor of the room so the carpet guys have no obstructions when they arrive sometime this morning. Hopefully the paint and carpet don’t clash. Oh yeah. Sill have to do […]

First coat done

Last night after the grocery store and dinner and laundry I started on painting Darlene’s room. It looks much better after a first coat. It will definitely need a second coat since the pink is still showing, and in a few spots the light blue that it was before the pink. I didn’t take off […]

Yay, it’s done!

Yesterday I weed-wacked the back yard (front is this week), washed down the walls in Darlene’s room and prepped it for painting, and did a few loads of laundry. A good arm work-out but I’m glad it’s done.

New projector is set up!

There still a little fine tuning on position and such, but the picture is so beautiful, and it’s just projecting on the wall! DVDs look wonderful and you can see stuff even inthe dark scenes. Video games are made to look not as good in some ways now in that it is so sharp you […]

The office is back together

At least for now we are done with the office. The floor is still unpainted concrete but it’s nicer looking and functional again. Later we’ll pull everything out again and put in a floating floor. There was an article in This Old House that made it look pretty easy. It’s also been re-arranged to make […]

A night off

Last night Nicole asked if I was going to paint. I said I might. Then she said I should do something like play video games since I’ve been wanting to play lately. I know that really she was afraid I was going to mess up the paint already done or not do a very good […]

Sometimes there is a mess (part 2)

Sunday we decided that would need to rip out all the moldy smelly carpet, which means we need to pull out everythign in the room. While everything is out it’s the perfect opportunity to paint the room something that isn’t yellow. We went to OSH and picked out some paint and ran other errands before […]
