Slow DVD burner
Why is it going so slow?! It detects the media as 4X and says it’s writing at 4X, but the speed is more like 1X. On the bright side it is writing reliably, but I want the higher speed!

If you have the Emprex, you could try flashing it up to the latest firmware version. You should be careful, though. I had mine in an external USB encloser and flashed up the firmware and now the drive is all but useless. I need to flash it back to the original bios, but I can’t seem to find a reliable floppy to put the flashing software onto.
Curse these 20 year old floppies!
July 11th, 2005 at 8:32 amIt is the Emprex. It was slow so I upgraded to the latest firmware version. It’s still slow. Maybe it’s just extremely selective about media? Whatever, it’s irritating.
